What are cookies?

Cookies are short strings of text that the websites visited by the user sends to their terminal (usually to the browser), where they can be saved and sent back to those websites on the occasion of subsequent visits by the same user (so-called first-party cookies). When visiting a website, the users may also receive cookies on their terminal from other web servers (so-called third-party cookies); this happens because there may be elements on the website visited, such as photographs, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains that reside on different services from the one where the page required is located. In other works, they are the cookies entered by a different website from the one the user is currently visiting.

Cookies may have a duration limited to a single session of navigation (so-called session cookies), and in that case, they are automatically inactivated when the user closes the browser; or they may have a preset expiration and, in that case, will remain on your hard disk until that time, continuing to gather information during different navigations sessions on the browser (so-called permanent cookies).

Types of cookies used by the website

This Website uses the following types of essential first-party cookies, for the installation of which  no consent is required by the users, but for which DWS is required to provide adequate information:

(a)    Session cookies: fundamental to enable the users to move normally in the DWS website and correctly receive its services; since they are not saved on the users’ computers, they vanish when the browser is closed;

(b)   “Functional” cookies: these serve only to improve and speed up navigation on the Website, by saving certain choices made by the users (such as the language preference).

These are tools used by DWS to ensure efficient navigation, stability of the session, maintenance of the login during the entire session and the country of navigation selected,  among other things. They also serve to save the choices made by users relative to the viewing of certain elements, such as informative banners and messaging.

The use of these cookies and the performance of processing connected to them does not require the prior consent of the users. The users can, however, prevent these latter technical cookies from being installed, by means of settings on their browser, with the understanding that doing so could complicate, slow and occasionally prevent navigation on the Website. DWS acts as controller of the processing of personal data exclusively with reference to the first-party cookies installed on the Website.

THIRD–PARTY COOKIES

It is possible, during users’ navigation of the Website, that some cookies not directly controlled and managed by DWS may be saved on their devices. This happens, for example, when the users visit a page that includes content of a third-party website.

In this connection, it should be noted that DWS has no role in processing the data deriving from this type of cookie, as it is a simple technical intermediary.

Cookies used by third parties for profiling and/or marketing serve to display customized advertising on the website and on other websites, and their operation is based on the users’ navigation habits. This type of cookie could be used by third parties to display their products and services on the website.

The website also uses certain types of analytic third-party cookies (so-called “Preferences”) through which they can collect, for example, the following information:

(a)    number of visitors, pages viewed and navigation within the website;

(b)    effectiveness of sales campaigns on the basis of the source of the web traffic;

(c)    details about the products viewed and any downloaded from the website.

These cookies, as well as the purposes for which they are used off the website, fall under the direct and exclusive responsibility of the third parties that install them on the users’ terminals, and serve to show them advertisements in line with their interests (this is the case of third-party cookies for profiling/retargeting).

If users do not wish to receive third party cookies on their terminals, they can refuse to give their consent and, at any time, through the links shown hereafter, or through the options of selection/deselection present in this cookie policy or cookie banner, can exclude their receipt. The following boxes list all the cookies on the website, with respect to which the users can decide wither to give consent to their use and which cookies they may block or delete.

USE OF SOCIAL NETWORK PLUG-INS

The website implements a number of social network plug-ins, for example Instagram and Facebook, to enable the users to publicly share the content available on the portal.
When the user visits a page of the website, the plug-ins establish a direct connection between the user’s browser and the social networks, acquiring certain data such as the IP address, date and time of the visit, the browser used, etc.

It should be noted that the Data Controller does not process or keep any information sent to the social network via the plug-in. For more information, see the following links:
